TANGLA: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Udalguri in collaboration with the MRSD NGO, organized a Neighbourhood Youth Parliament with a day-long agenda on Wednesday at the Udalguri College auditorium.

The programme was inaugurated with lighting of lamp by Principal of the college, Dr. Luke Daimary and president of IRCS Udalguri, Sarat Chandra Basumatary. The programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner of Udalguri, Supriya Bawlary, while senior journalist Rewati Raman Sapkota spoke on the National Education Policy 2020, science and technology as resource person. In his speech, Sapkota dwelt on the salient features of the National Education Policy 2020 which was framed after 46 years to meet the global challenges with indigenous resources. He also appreciated the new education policy saying that it was a need-based policy to check the drop-outs and to ensure cent percent literacy by 2030. He also spoke on the successful trips of Indian science and technology in all fronts, including education, agriculture and military needs towards making of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. Joint Director of Udalguri district health services, Dr Abhijit Basu; DCPO, Udalguri, Gautam Sahariah, Sarat Chandra Basumatary also spoke on various aspects like healthcare, skill development, personality development, self reliance, building self confidence and had a cordial interaction with the youths in the assembly.
