GORESWAR: The Baksa district unit of North East Minorities Students' Union (NEMSU) submitted a memorandum to the Goreswar Block Development Officer (BDO) on Thursday.

Hafijul Islam and Jeherul Islam, president and secretary respectively of the Baksa district unit of NEMSU, demanded immediate inclusion of the poor families that have been left out of the Individual Demarcation (ID) number list and inquiry into the anomalies in the ID number list.

Hafijul Islam, Baksa district president of NEMSU, said that a list of Individual Demarcation (ID) numbers had been published recently and a number of miscreants in the villages took it as a source of income. Brokers have been asking money from poor families for allotment of new Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses. After taking money from the poor families, the brokers asked them for Aadhar card number to link with the ID number for a new PMAY house. Those families which do not have Aadhar number are running hither and thither for Aadhar cards. But the process to issue Aadhar cards has been kept on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. The students' organization demanded the Goreswar BDO to take action against the brokers in the villages of Goreswar revenue circle in Baksa district.
