UDALGURI: Nepali Bhasa Manyata Divas was observed at Bandarguri High School with a day-long programme. The Bhasa Divas was inaugurated by Rudra Baral, the general secretary of Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha. He urged budding writers to create standard literature. Lakshman Adhikari, the president of Udalguri district Nepali Sahitya Sabha, presided over the meeting. Mohan Kumar Chhetry conducted the meeting. Tarapati Upadhyaya, senior litterateur, and Puspadhar Bastola, the Principal of Udalguri H S School, were the appointed speakers. The Nepali language teachers and Nepali language toppers in HSLC exam from the district were felicitated with the Ahirman memorial award.

Baidyanath Upadhyaya, national award-winning writer, recited his poem. Two Nepali language books authored by Budhhi Subedi and Ram Upadhyaya were released by Tarapati Upadhyaya on the occasion.

JAMUGURIHAT: The Department of Nepali, THB College on Friday, observed the Nepali Bhasa Manyata Divas. In this regard, a virtual webinar was organized. The webinar began with lighting of ceremonial lamps by Lakhimaya Devi which was followed by a lecture by Moti Sarma, former Principal of ITI, Tezpur. During his lecture, Moti Sarma recalled the contributions made by the activists of the historic language movement and offered his homage to the language martyrs. Senior poet Guru Prasad Upadhayaya, Prof. Dr. Narayan Sarma, Chakrapani Sarma, Purna Kumar Sarma and Chatraman Subba also recalled the history of the literary movement. This was followed by recitation of self-composed poems by Madhab Subedi and Santosh Newar.
