NE’s first Yoga & Naturopathy Hospital in Dibrugarh soon: Sarbananda Sonowal

DIBRUGARH: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal visited the proposed site for the 100-bedded Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital at Jokai near Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

This is the first yoga and naturopathy hospital in the whole of Northeast India. The institute will also have research facilities which is going to be used for enhancing ways and means to further amp up the healthcare solutions through Yoga and Naturopathy.

“It is a moment of great honour that Dibrugarh is going to have a 100-bedded Yoga and Naturopathy hospital - the first such hospital to be established in the Northeast of India. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the rich heritage of traditional medicine has regained its glory as it is providing immense care to the healthcare needs of the people, especially in the segment of preventive healthcare and enhancing the quality of lives of people,” he said.

He further said, “One of India’s greatest gifts to the humanity - Yoga - has helped people all across the world as it is spearheading a global wellness healthcare movement with the success of International Day of Yoga celebrations across the world. This was possible due to the vision of our leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who saw the immense potential in our traditional system of medicine and scope for its global promotion. With this wonderful institution in Dibrugarh, the people of Northeast will have access to a world class hospital. This may also unlock the immense potential of healthcare tourism for the region, given the growing prominence of Yoga and Naturopathy among people across the world.”

Sonowaladded, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our rich traditional medicinal practices has received tremendous boost. Given the immense potential of traditional medicine in enriching the quality of lives of the people, the government is working at tandem to provide an integrated healthcare solution where the best of traditional and modern medicine can work together towards making a Swastha Bharat.”

The Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Gas and Labour & Employment, Rameshwar Teli; MLAs Prashanta Phukan, Binod Hazarika; chairman, Assam Tourism Development Corporation, Rituparna Baruah; Dr Saikat Patra, Chairman, Dibrugarh Municipal Board; along with Deputy Chairman of Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation, Ujjwal Phukan; Dr Raghavendra Rao, Director, Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), among other prominent citizens and officials of state and central government were present.
