New bilateral pact on salary hike of tea employees signed

DOOMDOOMA: The previous agreement of salary structure of tea garden employees having expired on March 31, 2018, a new agreement was signed on Thursday between Consultative Committee of Plantation Association (CCPA) representing five employers’ associations namely, ABITA, TAI, BCP, ATPA and NETA, and the only registered and recognized employees’ organization Asam Chah Karmachari Sangha (ACKS) after 10 rounds of discussions at the Assam branch of Bhartiya Chah Parishad (BCP) in Guwahati.

According to this new salary agreement signed on October 22, there will be hike of 34.57 per cent at every stage of previous salary structure. Accordingly, the salary of a third grade clerk will be Rs 15,444 from 1.4.2018 and that of special clerical grade (f) at the last stage, the enhanced salary will be Rs 44,151.80. The tenure of the new agreement to be effective from 1.4.2018 will be for a period of three years up to March 31, 2021. The employees will receive their enhanced rate of salaries as arrear from that date i.e. 1.4.2018. The new agreement will also include all those employees not included in the previously signed agreements of guaranteed promotion after certain years and will ensure annual salary increment of the employees during stipulated period of the new salary agreement. This new agreement has been considered to be the best ever agreement executed so far. The secretary of ACKS, Girish Barpatra Gohain thanked the employees for the cooperation extended to him in the form of maintaining unity and solidarity of the organization.
