MANGALDAI: Former Ranji player Sushanta Biswa Sarma of Assam Police Service on Tuesday took over as the 25th Superintendent of Police of Darrang district.
Outgoing Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, who has completed a successful tenure of two years and four months in the district, on Tuesday afternoon handed over the charge to Sushanta Biswa Sarma. Amrit Bhuyan during his tenure had extended a helping hand to the progressive farmers and the brilliant students from the weaker section of the district. During the first lockdown period, he reached out to all the needy persons with a helping hand. He will join as the Commandant of 8 Assam Police Battalion at Abhayapuri.
Sushanta Biswa Sarma earlier has rendered his sincere service in the district as Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) and Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) with high integrity and people-friendly attitude. He also reorganized the Mangaldai Sports Association as its president and took the positive initiative to organize the Amba Medhi Football Tournament.
On the other hand, the district administration on Tuesday accorded a hearty felicitation to Additional Deputy Commissioner B Bijay Bhaskar Reddy of Indian Administrative Service who has been transferred to Dhemaji district as the Deputy Commissioner on promotion.
