New education policy to link Anganwadi centres with primary schools: B Kalyan Chakravarthy

SIVASAGAR: Principal Secretary of Education Department and Guardian Secretary of Sivasagar district, B Kalyan Chakravarthy took part as chief guest in the closing ceremony of Poshan Month, organized at the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, during his visit to Sivasagar district on Thursday. In the speech, the Guardian Secretary congratulated the officers and staff of the District Social Welfare Department, Child Development Project and Anganwadi workers for the successful completion of the Poshan Month-2021 which started from September 1. He stated that the Poshan Month celebration had a special role in ensuring the health of children, teenagers and pregnant mothers in the district. He said that though widespread awareness about nutritious consumption was made during the Poshan Month in September, there was need for such programmes to continue throughout the year. He said it was important to provide balanced diet and nutritious foods to the country's children to build a strong nation's foundation. He encouraged all involved to continue the fight against malnutrition and to perform their duties with diligence.

In his address, the Guardian Secretary stressed the importance of ensuring nutritious food supply to children and strengthening educational foundations. He said that the new education policy would link Anganwadi centres with primary schools in the near future, where special importance would be given to the children's nutritional needs as well as intellectual development. He urged the department of Social Welfare and Education to jointly prepare a plan in this matter. District Social Welfare Officer Jyoti Bikash Dutta explained the objective, while senior journalist Manoj Borthakur presided over the meeting. In the meeting, along with the Inspector of Schools Kamal Jyoti Gogoi, the secretary of the State Adhividya Parishad, Pabitra Pran Bhattacharya was present.
