NAGAON: The new office building of the Fire and Emergency Services of Raha was inaugurated on Friday by Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Political Departments, Government of Assam, in presence of Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Additional Director General, Fire and Emergency Services, Assam. In the inaugural speech, Kumar Sanjay Krishna said that the Assam Government had taken steps to construct 29 new office buildings of Fire and Emergency Services in various places of the State. The government has sanctioned Rs 65 crore to the Home Department for the purpose.
He said, “Rs. 11 crore has been sanctioned by the government to purchase sophisticated gadgets required for firefighting works.” The modernization plans for the police include modernization of all police stations and transforming the uniformed personnel into a force in sync with the rapid technological advances, he added further.
On the other hand, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said, “Though small, the department is a very vital department as it deals with the lives of human beings apart from properties.” He urged the gathering to give due appreciation to firefighters for their bravery and sacrifices.
