LAKHIMPUR: The UBPO (United Bodo People's Organization) has wished that the upcoming new year 2022 should be the milestone for the security and comprehensive development of the indigenous people of Assam.

In connection with this statement, UBPO State president Manoranjan Basumatary said that the last year, 2021 was not satisfactory and hopeful for the indigenous tribal communities of the State.

"The government has pushed the tribal people to the post of peril by reserving and securing the land right of other communities in the tribal belts and blocks.

The non-implementation of the recommendations of any Bodo Peace Accords, which were inked as the result of prolonged Bodo movement, is a matter of serious concern. The security and development of the indigenous communities of the State, be it major or minor, could not be seen during the past days", Manoranjan Basumatary alleged.

In this context, the UBPO president called upon all, including the governments, to invest themselves to secure the rights of the indigenous communities of the State for their all-round progress and development in the upcoming year.
