DEMOW: A newborn baby was recovered in Thowra Tea Estate 12 No. line near Demow on Saturday morning in a heap of cow dung in a drain of the tea estate.

According to sources, Ramesh Tanti and Maya Tanti, both residents of Thowra Tea Estate 12 No. Line, heard the cries of a baby on Saturday morning and after that they saw a newborn baby in a heap of cow dung in a drain. The local people took the baby to the hospital of Thowra Tea Estate and later the baby was sent to Demow Model Hospital for better treatment.

The doctors of Demow Model Hospital treated the baby and the authority of Demow Model Hospital informed the police and Child Protection Unit. A team of Moran Police and workers of Child Protection Unit of Dibrugarh district reached the Demow Model Hospital. The workers of Child Protection Unit, Dibrugarh district have taken the baby under their custody. Later, the baby was taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.
