Guwahati: A newly married couple allegedly committed suicide at their residence in the Malupara area of Chamata under Belsor police station in Nalbari district.
According to reports, the duos were identified as Mridul Thakuria and Rupali Thakuria.
Both the bodies were recovered from their bathroom on Wednesday evening.
The nearby people, including their families, are in dilemma after their suicide as so far no major reason has come to the fore revealing the reason behind this step.
The reports also claimed Mridul Thakuria was working as a tailor to run his family.
It wouldn't be wrong to mention that with each passing day, reports of suicide are coming to the fore not only from the urban areas but also from rural areas across the country.
If we look at the data provided by the central government in March this year; suicides among women have increased from 41,493 in 2019 to 44,498 in 2020.
''The main two causes behind the suicide of women are ''family problems'' followed by ''illness'', believes National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
As per the data, of the 44,498 deceased women, 22,374 were housewives.
In October, NCRB revealed that a total of 153,052 confirmed suicides with an average of 418 per day were reported in 2020. In 2019 the number of suicides in the country was 139,123.
On the other hand, in 2020, the suicide rate, which is calculated per lakh people, has jumped from 10.4 in 2019 to 11.3 in 2020.
