BONGAIGAON: The government is allegedly trying to sell all the Railway production industries one by one. The All India Railwaymen's Federation has opposed it strongly and observed 'Save Railway Production Unit Day' in the whole country.

In Bongaigaon, an open meeting was conducted by N F Railway Mazdoor Union infront of New Bongaigaon Railway Workshop where several noted leaders of the union, including Dilip Chakraborty, central president, NFRMU, Pijush Chakraborty, Zonal Secretary, AIRF, and others were present.

Addressing the gathering, Dilip Chakraborty said that the Central Government was preparing to sell most of the departments of Railway such as Production unit, Stations, Hospitals, Schools, Stadium etc. "This will cause a massive unemployment problem for the next generation. Moreover, the National Pension Scheme (NPS) is the reflection of destruction of employees' future. NFRMU has continued its agitation against such matters and will never stop until NPS or privatization of public sector is stopped. We will conduct a mass hunger strike against NPS on October 12 and request all to participate in this," he said.

Pijush Chakraborty criticized the 'anti-labour policy' adopted by the BJP government. He appealed all to be united under the banner of AIRF to protest against such conspiracy of the government. The protest was also staged at the Dibrugarh Railway workshop where DibakarBaruah, vice-president, NFRMU, and others were present.
