GUWAHATI: In a bid to further improve the transportation of freight traffic, NF Railway has been continuously taking initiatives for easier transportation of various goods by customers. This is expected to benefit transporters in a big way, along with the development of the local economy.

To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, Moinarband station under Lumding division has been developed for the handling of stone chips. Due to strategic marketing efforts, the first rake of stone chip was loaded on March 21, 2023. Further, a Memorandum of Understanding for Indian Customs Yard (ICY) and Nepal Custom Yard (NCY) operations at the Indo-Nepal Border has been finalised at the zonal level. A joint tripartite inspection among the Customs, IRCON, and Railway has been conducted on March 29, 2023, in order to operationalize the cross-border traffic movement between India and Nepal.

Moreover, due to planned marketing efforts, 8.5 rakes containing potatoes have been booked from Alipurduar Division, which brought additional freight revenue during the month of March 2023.

Improvements in customer interface and the opening of new terminals lead to increased loading and unloading of freight trains. NF Railway's revenue will significantly grow in the coming years, a press release said.
