NF Railway to Introduce Vistadome Service Between Guwahati to Mendipathar in Meghalaya

GUWAHATI: In order to boost the tourism industry in the northeast, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is mulling of introducing a Vistadome service between Assam and Meghalaya.

As per reports, a meeting was held with the District Administration of the North Garo Hill of Meghalaya and the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh to advertise the financial development of the area.

Further, the Railways proposed the introduction of the brand new inter-state Vistadome service between Guwahati to Mendipathar in Meghalaya.

Moreover, beautification of Nalbari Railway Station to a mini-park was additionally mentioned with the Senior Divisional Business Supervisor of Rangiya Division.

Furthermore, in a bid to promote native farm produce, the NF Railway plans to open a recent vegetable and fruit outlet -'Arunachal Contemporary' on the Naharlagun Station in Arunachal Pradesh.

Proposals for the development of different items shed at Naharlagun and feasibility transportation of vehicle visitors and different commodities and their advantages had been totally mentioned.

Earlier, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that 'Tourist Circuit' trains will now run for tourists in the Northeast which will pass through all the major places of the region.

Vaishnav said that it has been the endeavour of the Railways to promote the rich heritage of the Northeast and present its beautiful culture to the whole world. He said that five 'Vistadome' services have already been started with the aim of promoting tourism in the region.

He said that studies are being done to layout strategic railway lines to bring out the beauty of the Northeast and to introduce trains like Intercity and Jan Shatabdi Express.

It may be mentioned that the railways introduced the Vistadome train service between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. These trains run between Tinsukia in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh five days a week.

The Vistadome Express has a special type of railway coach which includes large window panes, a glass roof, 180-degree pushback rotatable chairs, observation decks, etc among many other features which enhance the travel experience of passengers by a considerable margin.
