TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia division of NFR Mazdoor Union, along with other divisions of NF Railway, joined the nationwide protest march organized by the National Joint Council of Action Committee on Wednesday to vent their ire against BJP’s ‘anti-labour’ policy. In a press release, the NFRMU stated that the Modi government did not understand the values of workers’ legitimate rights. Despite protest by democratic means, the railwaymen’s demands, which included enhancement of minimum salary from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 and stopping the privatization of railway services, had not been fulfilled. This protest will have a far-reaching impact on the ensuing Lok Sabha election at a time when the Narendra Modi-led BJP party is begging for the support of common people, the release added.
