TINSUKIA: Along with the rest of the country, NFR Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) resorted to protest on Thursday against private investment in running of passenger trains. The protest figured other 'anti-labour' policies of the BJP-led Central Government, besides privatization. The NFRMU in a statement said that the 52 branches under the union would resist and oppose through democratic movement any move that goes against the interest of railway workers and also common masses, said Pulak Gogoi, central organizational secretary of NFRMU.
Bongaigaon: Responding to the call of All India Railwaymen's Federation, North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) staged demonstration in front of New Bongaigaon Railway Junction on Thursday while observing Jana Jagaran Divas.
Addressing the gathering, Ashish Biswas, central joint secretary of NFRMU, said that they were protesting against several issues like handing over of 151 trains to private sector, surrendering of posts, abnormal price hike and freezing of DA of Central Government employees.
"This government is taking advantage of the situation due to COVID-19 pandemic. It is working only for the interest of few corporate houses by trying to sell all profit-making public sectors to private companies. This puppet government only wants to divert the attention of people from facts. We will never let it happen and continue our agitation," he said. Several leaders, including Ashish Biswas, Phanidhar Das, Tonmoy Sakti Raha and Mrinal Seal were present in this demonstration.
