TINSUKIA: Tinsukia division of NFR in pursuance of PM's vision of Gati Shakti and Ministry of Railways policy on Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal (GTC) signed the GTC Agreement on Monday with Food Corporation of India (FCI) for FCI Chinnamara Siding for a maximum period of 35 years after completion of work, though renewable. The new FCI Cinnamara Siding (FCGC) would significantly decongest Jorhat goods, stated a press release issued by Senior Commercial Manager of Tinsukia Railway division.
Following this development yard and terminal detention is expected to come down at Jorhat Goods Yard as Jorhat bound FCI rakes will be handled exclusively at FCl Siding at Cinnamara, the release added. Though the FCI has its own godown at Cinnamara, unloading is expected to be faster at Cinnamara due to direct unloading from wagon to godowns which will eventually result in reduction in detention of rolling stock and hence would improve wagon turn around, the release said.
