TINSUKIA: The Divisional Council of NF Railway Employees’ Union (NFREU) has expressed serious concern over the Railway Ministry’s decision against compulsory retirement of employees who have attained the age of 55 years or completed 30 years of service. The ministry has already prepared such a list which will affect more than 1 lakh employees.

Condemning such autocratic decision of the BJP-led government, the NEREU in a press release issued by Monoj Gogoi and Debarshi Mohan Gogoi, president and secretary respectively, stated that more than 100 employees under the banner of NFREU staged a protest in front of the DRM Tinsukia office on Wednesday demanding withdrawal of the policy.

The union also criticized the double-standard policy of the government by engaging retired railway employees into service. A memorandum highlighting the grievances of the employees was submitted to the Railway Ministry through the DRM Tinsukia. The demonstration was staged simultaneously in all branches under Tinsukia division of NFR.
