NFRMU demands repair of roads across Bongaigaon railway areas

BONGAIGAON: Demanding immediate repair of roads of the Bongaigaon-New Bongaigaon area under railway administration, the North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union Bongaigaon (NFRMU), New Bongaigaon BG, New Bongaigaon Running and New Bongaigaon Workshop branches jointly staged a demonstration on Monday in front of the Assistant Divisional Officer's office at New Bongaigaon.

Holding red flags, several activists shouted slogans. Talking to media persons, Phanidhar Das, central vice-president of NFRMU, said that NFRMU had demanded construction of this road and other colony roads since a long time.

"As these roads are under Railway administration, we, as an authorized union, demanded for repair several times. But we never got a favourable response and hence we were compelled to adopt the path of agitation. If the roads, especially the main road, is not repaired or constructed immediately, then we will be compelled to take up massive agitation in the days to come," he said.
