JORHAT: Following intelligence input about miscreants from neighbouring States crossing the border to strike during the polls, security has been beefed up in Upper Assam as well as in Arunachal Pradesh.

Moreover, night curfew has been clamped along the border belt from 7 pm to 5 am and patrolling has been intensified. Ban has been imposed on pillion riding. A meeting was held in the police guest house, Jorhat, in presence of the Additional DGP and several senior security personnel from various agencies.

“We need to be extra alert as the movement of underground groups in the neighbouring States has been reported. The raising day of ULFA (I) is on April 7 and as per intelligence input, the outfit is going to celebrate this day in many places,” said IG office (operation) sources.
