9 Persons Arrested in Connection to Mob Lynching Case in Tinsukia District

TINSUKIA: A mob lynching incident in Kojonga under Baghjan PS of Tinsukia district on Friday night left one person dead. Police arrested 9 persons in connection with the incident.

According to reports, a person named Sarat Moran of No 1 Kordoiguri village was caught by the villagers of Kojonga on Friday night suspecting him to be a thief and kept hostage overnight. On Saturday morning, the villagers brought Moran to a playground where he was allegedly inhumanly tortured. Though police rescued him, he succumbed to his injuries at Doomdooma FRU hospital.

Police subsequently arrested 9 persons and booked under Sections 302 &34 IPC and sent them to judicial custody. The accused have been identified as Amit Rawatia (25), Bipin Orang (31), Nirmal Karmakar (25), Rajesh Garh (35), Arup Kondho (35), Mridul Karmakar (23), Shyam Telenga (23), Binud Nagbongshi (21) and Bipul Karmakar (25), said Debojit Deuri Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia.
