No Lockdown In Assam Says Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Urging everyone to take both doses of Covid-19 vaccination, Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that there will be no lockdown in the state.

The statement of CM Sarma came to the fore after the state has witnessed a slight surge of Covid-19 cases.

He said there would be no lockdown in the state now, but everyone will have to take the vaccine.

After the conclusion of Durga Puja, some cases of Covid-19 started coming out in different parts of the state.

Since last week, the state is witnessing more than 300 cases of Covid-19 on a daily basis.

On Saturday the state has registered fresh 324 positive cases with a positive rate of 0.81 per cent. In Assam Kamrup district has registered the highest cases which are 88 followed by Barpeta 50, Jorhat 21 and Kamrup Rural 17. The total tally is 6, 08, 450.

Earlier, adding an element to the uprising statistics of COVID casualties in the State, one more death has been reported here on Sunday. One Rubi Bora (47); a resident of Bahuwabari under Sootea Police Station of Biswanath district died of COVID-19 on Sunday morning. She has admitted to the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital a week ago where she breathed her last while undergoing treatment. The mortal remains of the deceased were brought to Sootea on Sunday. The funeral rituals were performed as per COVID norms. She left behind her husband, a son along a host of relatives.
