Guwahati: Senior BJP leader and Assam Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that no person will be spared if they are found to be involved in the infamous Sub Inspector recruitment scam of Assam Police.
Sarma said that if the police find evidence, they will definitely investigate. The police have already arrested various people involved in the scam, including their own SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna. There is no doubt that the police will spare none involved in the scam, Sarma added.
The infamous scam came into limelight when the question papers were leaked on social media a few minutes after the commencement of the test. The investigation is getting interesting as new faces involved are emerging in front of the police. The investigation team led by Gyanendra Pratap Singh, ADGP, Law and Order, has been arresting people, from the masterminds to primary accused. The mastermind, former DIG PK Dutta and former BJP leader Diban Deka has been sent to judicial custody.
Former Superintendent of Police, Kumar Sanjit Krishna was arrested on Thursday after he surrendered at the DGP's office in Guwahati. He is accused of taking Rs. 40 lakh to open the question paper at his official residence, two days prior to the exam. During that period, he was serving as the SP of Karimganj and later transferred to FRRO, Barpeta.
Several names of high profile officials of Assam Police, politicians, and middlemen came up during the investigation. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has assured that justice will be done and culprits will be punished.
