KOKRAJHAR: As various political parties have started their homework for 2024 poll battle, BJP is no longer in backfoot but ministers of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam have been active in every corner to strengthen base in the council as the party has been trying to takeover the control of BTC administration.
Guardian Minister of Kokrajhar Ashok Singhal attended a public meeting at Serfanguri playground in Kokrajhar on Wednesday aiming at establishing base in Dotma constituency for forthcoming MP election Dotma constituency in BTC. Seveeal hundreds of people gathered the open meeting.
In his speech, minister Ashok Singhal said peace had returned after the BTR accord signed in 2020 with struggling groups of ABSU, NDFB, UBPO and with governments of India and Assam. He said once BTC area was hot bed of militants and safety and security of people was a matter of concern but now no one has to fear as peace had prevailed. He also said the region witnessed violence, kidnapping, extortion and killings but these violence have gone nowhere in BTC region. Students are getting conducive atmosphere for education, he said adding that Pramod Boro-led BTC government had undertaken significant missions for the students. He said through Bodofa UN Brahma Super-50 mission, the council government has been providing free coaching for UPSC, APSC, medical and engineering for intending students of the region.
Singhal said double engine government had been in the right track in BTC where people are witnessing the pace of development activities in the region at the behest of Prime Minister, Home Minister, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and CEM of BTC Pramod Boro.
Singhal said the Assam and BTC governments have been giving priority to agricultural sector and 10 lakhs MT paddy would be procurred by government from farmers so that farmers get due benefit directly. He appealed genuine farmers to apply in portal for land issues and Assam government and BTC has been working for them. He also said that next year MP election was going to be held in various states of the country including Assam. “We need to bring back BJP led coalition government to power with Narendra Modi as Prime Minister in 2024 for vibrant India. He also said the candidates of BJP , UPPL and AGP will win from Kokrajhar and Darrang-Udalguri in forthcoming MP election 2024.
