GUWAHATI: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has decided to withdraw the relaxations issued for pregnant women employees and women employees with children of 3 years or below working under any government, PSU, Financial Institutions, and Private Organisations in an SOP released by them on Friday.
This move comes at a time when the state government is gradually relaxing the restrictions imposed as a result of the novel coronavirus. The ASDMA instructed all government employees including those on contractual and fixed pay to come back to work in a freshly issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with no. ASDMA. 28/2021/326 dated November 12, 2021. Only those employees who are on authorized leave are exempted from this order. The notification also stated that the Covid -19 situation in the state has been thoroughly reviewed and the overall scenario has improved considerably as compared to earlier times.
Out of the total eligible population in the state, 95 per cent have received the first dose and 31 per cent have received the second dose according to the notification. Several districts are inching closer towards complete vaccination for their population. This data shows that the vaccination drive in the state is improving day by day. Assam is taking the lead in the vaccination race while some of the other states are lagging ahead.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a new initiative whereby the state government is planning to begin a door-to-door vaccination drive to ensure 100 per cent coverage. It is a part of the special vaccination campaign which will be conducted across all 42,000 polling booths in the state between November 22 to November 27 wherein healthcare workers will visit each household to vaccinate the people.
