LAKHIMPUR: In a bid to contribute towards minimizing carbon emissions inside the campus, Lakhimpur Commerce College observed No Vehicle Day on May 14.

The day to stop bringing any vehicles to the college by the students, teachers and non-teaching staff was called by the transport cell of the college. In response to the call, all the students, teachers and office staff of the college stayed away from bringing any engined or motorized vehicles to the college. An awareness briefing for the students was made on the day in the college wherein Principal Dr Lohit Hazarika asked the students and teachers to be climate resilient and said that little steps of not releasing carbon to the atmosphere could bring a difference to the current situation of pollution and toxic air.

Dr Hazarika further said that 'No Vehicle Day' would be observed every second Saturday of the month to contribute towards minimizing carbon footprints.
