KOKRAJHAR: The scrutiny of nomination papers of a total of eight candidates who filed their papers for 31- Sidli (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) was conducted by Returning Officer Gautam Talukdar on Saturday in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office. After the scrutiny, five candidates were found eligible and three were rejected.

The candidates whose nomination papers were accepted were Jisoya Champramary (Ind), Chandan Brahma (BPF), Joyanta Basumatary (UPPL), Ranjay Kumar Brahma (JDU) and Smriti Basumatary (Ind) while nomination papers of Manamati Goyary (VPI), Joseph Basumatary (Ind) and Bubul Das (Ind) were rejected as they failed to fulfill some mandatory requirements. Now a total of four male candidates and one female candidate are contesting for the Sidli assembly seat.

As Chirang district falls in the third phase of the upcoming assembly election in the State, the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers will be held on March 22 while polling will be held on April 6.
