BONGAIGAON: In tune with other parts of the country, North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union staged some protest meetings in Bongaigaon responding to the clarion call of All India Railwayman's' Federation. The short protest meetings were organized at Bongaigaon Railway Electric Office, Bridge office and Engineering Workshop accordingly. Vice president Phanidhar Das, joint general secretary Ashish Biswas and many other leaders of the organization were present in the meeting. Addressing the mass, Ashish Biswas said, "The BJP-led Central government is just a puppet of corporate houses. They are taking advantage of this emergency situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have freezed the DA of central government employees and merging posts of different departments of Railway to cut off posts. This cut will increase unemployment. Moreover, during this emergency, the government is trying to handover many public sector, oil fields to the corporate houses. We protest against it and will continue our agitation against this anti-labor conspiracy," he said. Protests were also staged in several places like North Lakhimpur, Tinsukia, Guwahati, Lumding, Alipurduar.
