TINSUKIA: The North East Indigenous People’s Forum (NEIPF), while expressing serious concern over the recent outbreak of violence at Itanagar and elsewhere in the wake of PRC imbroglio, appealed to all citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to maintain peace and brotherhood.
In a press meet at Tinsukia on Tuesday, Anup Chetia, chief convenor of NEIPF and pro-talk ULFA leader, said that the whole issue of granting PRC by Arunachal Pradesh government to six non-Arunachali indigenous communities living for several decades in Namsai and Changlang was inappropriate as the government failed to understand the sentiments of the people prior to formulation.
Chetia made a fervent appeal to all indigenous people living on either side of Assam- Arunachal to maintain utmost resilience so that violence did not escalate further and also appealed to political parties not to garner political mileage out of the issue. The NEIPF, while demanding safety of life and property of all indigenous people of Anunachal Pradesh, has sought adequate compensation to the four killed and 12 injured in violence. It also demanded a judicial inquiry in the issue.
