TANGLA: The North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) Tangla branch is making inroads among the small entrepreneurs and traders involved in animal husbandry, weaving and tea garden-related business in the region. The branch organized a ceremonial event on Thursday to celebrate the completion of one year and to apprise the customers on the wide array of banking services. The event was graced as guests by retired Principal of Tangla College, Ramakanta Borah; retired Professor Ghanakanta Deka, and Head of the Department of History, Tangla College, Chandan Baruah.

Speaking as a guest, Chandan Baruah said it was a good sign that small regional private sector banks were making banking services accessible to the rural populace and small traders.

“Though people of the State have lost faith in small micro-finance companies after they were cheated by chit-fund companies, NESFB Ltd. is a recognized bank by RBI operating across north-eastern States which will go a long way in breaking the conventional banking systems,” Baruah added.

Addressing the gathering, Branch Manager Hemanta Kumar Sarma said, “We are a bank for the people of the lower strata of the society who are often subjected to long procedures for availing banking services.” He further stated that through some innovative and pro-customer services like Daily Deposit Scheme (DDS) and Entrepreneur Developmental Loan (EDL), even people of BPL families were extended loans without any hassle. He urged the people of every segment of society to come forward and avail the bouquet of products offered by the bank.
