LAKHIMPUR: North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB) is all set to celebrate the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative from Saturday as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The civic body has already completed all its preparations in order to make the three-day long initiative successful to mark the completion of the 75th years of India's independence.

In this regard, NLMB Executive Officer, Casio Karan Pegu informed that the National Flag would be hoisted at 11 centre places of the town, viz- Gandhi Park, North Lakhimpur College Chariali, Rahdhala Pukhuri premises, Sukulibhoria Petrol Depot premises, Thakurbari Petrol Depot premises, Amar Bazaar, Dr. Ambedkar Statue premises, Tyag Kshetra, Lakhimi Chariali, (Main Chariali of North Lakhimpur town, public place in front of LICI Office and old Civil Hospital premises at Nakari.

"All kinds of effective steps have been taken to ensure the hoisting of National Flag in each and every household under the municipal board area during the three days of Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, which has already sustained a festive mood. For this purpose, extensive awareness programmes and rallies have been conducted at different parts of the municipal area to sensitize the civic people about the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Moreover, publicity was made through mike announcement in this regard in addition to the distribution of thousands of leaflets. As the parts of such awareness programmes, various competition events, like kite flying, letter writing to the jawans of Indian Army, drawing etc were organized," the Executive Officer of NLMB said.

He further informed that National Flags were sold by setting up 15 selling points to make the same accessible across the municipal area. Approximately, 10,000 National Flags were sold till day through these selling points.

On the other hand, NLMB will celebrate the Amrit Sarovar festival at Rahdhala Pukhuri located at Ward No. 7 from August 13 to August 15 under the auspices of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. In view of this, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka will hoist the National Flag at 65 feet height on Saturday at 8:30 am. For this purpose, Rahdhala Pukhuri has been beautified with vivid decorations.
