Northeast Frontier Railway to help in tourism development in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: The Northeast Frontier Railway, in association with the State Government and local authorities, wants to take active participation in tourism development in Dima Hasao, the only hill district of Assam in the true sense, said Anshul Gupta, General Manager, N F Railway, on Tuesday at Haflong. Gupta inspected the old Lower Haflong Station along with other places near Haflong to explore the feasibility of making tourist spots considering the beautiful location and weather. Answering the questions of media persons, he categorically stated that no heritage line was being taken into consideration but some spots were being considered to make heritage site in view of tourism development and to help locals in building the tourism industry in DimaHasao. He also appreciated the natural beauty and rich culture and tradition of people.

In the evening, a reception ceremony was also held at the Railway Officers' Guest House at Haflong wherein several ethnic groups performed their traditional dances.
