Widespread showers are likely to hit several parts of the
Northeastern region. This was informed by the India Meteorological Department
(IMD) which also said that many parts of north India will also be affected by
the heavy showers along with sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for the next
five days.
According to a report published by IMD, cyclonic circulation lies over eastern Uttar Pradesh that is likely to extend up to the mid-troposphere levels.
The cyclonic circulation would influence these systems, hence causing heavy rainfall activity over the northeast and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days.
IMD further added, "Under the influence of stronger south-westerly or southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal, the rainfall intensity is very likely to increase over these areas from Wednesday (August 11), resulting in isolated extremely heavy falls over Assam and Meghalaya during August 11-13."
"Rain or thundershowers were observed at most places of Uttarakhand, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh and at many places of Himachal Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on Monday," IMD added.
Rain and thundershowers would also be experienced in a few places including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
