DOOMDOOMA: “Not an inch of land of Assam would be given to the foreigners. This land belongs to the forefathers of aboriginal people of Assam. The government has no right to give away these lands to the foreigners. The Assamese people who fought bravely against formidable Mughals 17 times have not learnt to kneel down before any foreigners. The evil design of the Central and State Governments to take away all the rights of the aboriginal people by rehabilitating the lakhs of foreigners in Assam’s soil would not be allowed to translate into reality,” said All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi while addressing the huge gathering at the ‘War Cry’ organised by AASU, Tinsukia District Committee, Axam Moran Xabha (AMX), Talap-Kordoiguri Regional Committee and the Bhakats of Uthara Kuri Thal with active co-operation of various other organisations at Kordoiguri High School playground on Friday against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and for resolving the flood and erosion problems of greater Kordoiguri area.

He further expressed his dissatisfaction by saying that this government was no longer a democratic government. He said, “This government was not giving any importance to the intense agitation launched against CAA all over the country where people are coming out in large numbers spontaneously to oppose this contentious Act. It rather preferred to adopt repressive measures to subside the popular upsurge.” The meeting was also addressed by AMX president Dharmendra Neog, Tinsukia district committee AJYCP president Surajit Moran and Xatradhikar Harakanta Mahanta among others.
