TANGLA: Noted educationist, advocate, journalist and athlete, Dr. Keshab Chandra Dutta passed away after prolonged illness at his residence in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Sunday evening. He was 76. Born in March 1, 1947 in Dalgaon of undivided Darrang district in the family of Mouzadar, he was the son of Boli Ram Dutta and Brindawali Dutta. He joined Tangla College in 1981 as a Professor in the Department of Political Science and retired as Principal of Tangla College in 2006 and post retirement actively dedicated himself into practice as an advocate in Udalguri Bar Association.
He was also associated with The Sentinel as its Tangla correspondent for a considerable period. He was also an athelete and had participated as Football referee in a number of tournaments. He was also the president of Udalguri Bar Association. On Monday his body was taken to Tangla College where the Tangla College Teachers’ fraternity, All Bodo Students’ Union, Tangla unit, paid floral tribute and last respect to the bereaved soul.
He was also actively associated with a number of organizations and institutions of Udalguri district. Various organisations and institutions have condoled his demise. He left behind his wife, son, daughter, daughter-in-law besides a host of well wishers and relatives. Vice president of All Assam Students’ Union, (AASU) Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharya recalled his unparalleled contribution to the historic Assam movement and his journalistic works from the then undivided Darrang district and presently Udalguri district and termed his death as a unfillable void to the society.
Former Paneri MLA, Kamali Basumatary, Assam BJP Minority Morcha president and Former Rajya Sabha MP, Santiuse Kujur; president of Udalguri chapter of Assam Press Correspondents Union , Deepak Deka have condoled his demise and expressed condolence to the bereaved family members.
