TEZPUR: Food safety issues, nutrition deficiencies, postharvest losses, regulation inconsistencies and consumer attitudes are all striking challenges, which must be met in maintaining food security and sustainability.
With a view to mitigate these challenges, the Department of Food Engineering and Technology, Tezpur University will organize a 5-day long AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy sponsored Faculty Development Program (FDP) on 'Emerging Food Processing Technologies: Prospects and Challenges for Food and Nutrition Security' from January 4 to January 8, 2021.
Eminent subject experts from Tezpur University and other educational institutions and industries from India and abroad, along with researchers from renowned academic and research and development institutes will deliver lectures on topics related to applications in food processing such as recent advances in food engineering, high pressure processing, electrical field technology, atmospheric cold plasma, novel extraction technology, ultrasound technology, extrusion technology for designed cereals, modern nutraceuticals, emerging trends in food packaging and storage, innovations in drying and quality assessment, and nanotechnology.
All faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students from various government or private engineering colleges/ institutions/ universities in the area of food process engineering and related fields are eligible to participate in the programme. There are a maximum of 200 seats and the eligible participants will be selected based on first come first serve basis. E-certificates will be issued to those participants who will have minimum 80 per cent attendance and having scored a minimum of 60 per cent marks in the online test which will be conducted at the end of the programme.
