Guwahati: Renowned Indian writer Dr Nagen Saikia, who was named in the advisory committee of the newest regional political party 'Raijor Dal' on Friday, has denied his affiliation with the party.

The former Sahitya Sabha president confirmed that he is not association with any political party in Assam.

In a statement, the writer also said that a lot of people have called him as he was named in the advisory committee of KMSS's new political party and he has already declared that he is not a member.

He said such regional parties across the state should stand on one platform and fight against the upcoming 2021 elections jointly

Speaking to sources, he said "I want all regional parties to come together as one and fight elections together. There is no question of me being in one specific party,"

"I hope my statement is not misinterpreted," the writer added.

Meanwhile, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today announced the formation of its political wing "Raijor Dal", with peasant rights activist Akhil Gogoi as its Chief State Convenor.
