SILCHAR : Last rites of noted litterateur as well as former teacher Annapurna Devi Verma were performed on Friday evening. Verma, 69, died on Thursday following a brief ailment. Former teacher of Nehru Higher Secondary School, Pailapool, Annapurna Devi left behind her husband, noted poet Ashok Verma and a son. The Verma couple, in spite of being Hindi speaking, earned fame by writing in Bengali and Assamese apart from their mother tongue. They edited an Assamese magazine named ‘Snako’. Annapurna Devi had authored two books of poems in Assamese language.
