SIVASAGAR: Noted social activist Rabindra Prasad Kataki (76), a resident of Shankar Mandir Road in Sivasagar town, breathed his last on Friday. Kataki was a prominent businessman in Sivasagar town with his establishment Lakshmi Printing Press. He was also actively involved in social activities. He was actively associated with Sivasagar Natya Samaj, a premier cultural organization of Northeast, established in 1899. He gave great importance to making the new generation a human resource.
Kataki is survived by a large family of three sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. His one son Rahul Kataki is an IPS officer who is working as DIG in Rajasthan, while another son Raktim Kataki lives in England.
Sivasagar Natya Samaj, Sibsagar Press Club, Sibsagar Bar Association, Yuvadal, Seujia Samaj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha Smriti Rakhya Samiti, Chau-Lung-Syukapha Indoor Stadium Management Committee, Hindu Dharma Xabha Namghar and various other organizations, cultural activists, social workers and noted citizens paid floral tributes to him and condoled his demise in a tribute-paying ceremony organized by noted social worker Saurav Chaliha on Saturday. His last rites were performed on Saturday afternoon in presence of a huge gathering of his well-wishers and relatives.
