NSS Digboi College Unit organized Anti-tobacco campaign in Bapuji Bhimpather High School

TINSUKIA: With a mission to make every student free from tobacco use, the NSS Digboi College Unit organized an awareness programme on the anti-tobacco campaign at Bapuji Bhimpather High School at Digboi with the theme ‘Tobacco a Taboo and its harmful effects’ on Saturday.

The purpose of the programme was delivered by Rajib Rudra Tariang, NSS Programme Officer of Digboi College, while two NSS student volunteers Nayana Saikia and Sumit Das acted as resource persons. Tariang also added various tips to overcome such problems by strengthening will power. An interaction session followed were several students participated and it appeared that many students of the school were addicted to tobacco and had been consuming it since long. They later pledged that they would not use such banned items in future and rather help towards the anti-tobacco campaign.

Sumit Das took the initiative to take an oath against the use of any tobacco items where all the students took part actively. The NSS volunteers of the college, Raktutpal Baruah, Dipankar Deb, Nayan Nag, Utpal Sonowal, Ankur Bhandari, Trishna Devi Baruah, Sushmita Sonowal, Trishna Sharma and Bikash Mishra, will monitor the school students and take initiatives to counsel them if required in the mission to make the school tobacco-free.
