NSS unit of OPD College in Lakhimpur district wins best cultural team title

LAKHIMPUR: The NSS volunteers’ team of the Panigaon OPD College of Lakhimpur district won the best cultural team title in the NSS Zonal Camp for Grooming Proactive NSS Volunteers. The camp was organized under the auspices of NSS unit of Subansiri College wherein NSS volunteers of 14 colleges took part. NSS volunteers of the OPD College participated in the event under the supervision of NSS coordinator-cum-professor Joy Prakash Bhuyan. Principal of the college, Dr Suresh Kumar Dutta appreciated the team for their achievement.

On the other hand, the Department of Economics, Panigaon OPD College organized a workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ on Wednesday in collaboration with the Department Economics of Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya. This event is the first event, which was jointly organized as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Departments of Economics of the both colleges. Dr Durgeswar Hazarika, Associate professor in the Department of Economics, Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya, took part in the workshop as resource person.

In his deliberation, the resource person highlighted various categories of intellectual property rights and explained how one can reclaim one’s copyright, patents, trade mark, geographical indication, industrial design on intellectual property. Dr Suresh Dutta, Principal, Panigaon OPD College, appreciated the Departments of Economics of the both colleges and spoke about the importance of intellectual property rights in the modern world.
