OBITUARY Meera Chakravorty

Meera Chakravorty, wife of late Indu Shekhar Chakravorty, passed away at her residence in Kharghuli on October 20 at the age of 85. She leaves behind her son and daughter, their spouses and grandchildren. Meera Chakravorty received her MA (Education ) from Gauhati University, following which she started working as a lecturer at Sibsagar Girls College. After her marriage, she moved to Guwahati and began working at Arya Vidyapeeth College, where she retired as Head of the Department of Education in the year 2000. Generally known to family and friends for her calm and quiet nature, Meera Chakravorty was also a woman of resolute determination and courage. She shepherded her young children through a difficult stage after their father’s untimely death and enabled them to become confident, caring and productive members of society. She always encouraged others to succeed, be they family, friends, or casual acquaintances. She counseled people to pursue their goals and think independently. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
