Obituary: Nirod Das

Nirod Das, former general secretary of undivided Chaiduarv Anchalik unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU), breathed his last at his residence at Ghahigaon under Gohpur subdivision in Biswanath district on June 17 after protracted illness. He was 54. He was serving in the PHE Department at the time of his death. Das was an energetic worker of the student body and played an active role in the Assam Agitation. He leaves behind his mother, wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives. His demise was widely mourned.
