Siddharth Barbarua, a promising and enterprising youth, passed away at his Jail Road residence in Jorhat on February 2 following massive cardiac arrest, leaving a pall of gloom. He was only 32 years old. His last rites were performed at Tarajan crematorium on February 3.
Siddharth did his BBA degree (oil and gas marketing) from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun after doing his matriculation and higher secondary in Jorhat. He worked for several years in the field of marketing during his association with an MNC. He travelled extensively and attended workshops in several parts of the country during his stint with the company.
Well mannered, decent and with a cool demeanour, Siddharth could quickly grasp things. He was an epitome of patience and had a steely resolve. He appeared in the APSC civil service exams last year and was quite confident that he would clear in his second attempt.
He kept himself abreast of the happenings taking place. A tech savvy, he was handling the social media accounts of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for over four years. He even helped MP Gaurav Gogoi in some important assignments. He passed away when he had so much to contribute towards the welfare of society. His untimely death has been widely mourned. He leaves behind his mother, Poly Barbaruah, two brothers, a sister and a host of relatives.
