Prominent sports organizer and
social worker, Mouzadar Hemen Bhagawati breathed his last on July 31 in a
hospital in Guwahati after a brief illness. He was 69. He hailed from Lehugaon,
Biswanath Chariali. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of
relatives. His death has been widely mourned. He was the Mouzadar of Sakomatha
Mouza within Biswanath Chariali.
Harisankar Chakraborty
Noted social worker, stage actor and retired teacher of Bengali Boys' HS School of Tezpur town, Harisankar Chakraborty passed away in a private hospital due to old-age ailments on July 31 . He leaves behind his wife and a daughter. He was 72. He was associated with many social and cultural organizations.
Among the organizations that mourned the demise of Harisankar Chakraborty are the Sonitpur Press Club, Baan Theater, Tezpur Bengali Amateur Theatre Party, members of various cultural groups and organizations mourned his demise and paid rich tribute to him.
In his condolence message, senior advocate and president of Sonitpur Press Club, Subhas Chandra Biswas said that Harisankar Chakraborty's contributions to the society in the greater Tezpur town area would be remembered for generations to come. His death had created a huge void in the arena of culture and literature. He was not only a social worker but also a very amiable person, he added.
Rameswar Dutta
Social worker, former ONGC employee and a resident of Gaurisagar Dicial village in Sivasagar district, Rameswar Dutta passed away on June 30 at Dibrugarh's Sanjivani Nursing Home due to cardiac arrest. He was 89.
After superannuation in 2004, he was actively associated with various social organizations. His demise was widely mourned in entire Gaurisagar area. Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika and various organizations condoled the demise of the social worker. He is survived by two sons, a brother and a host of relatives. (Our Correspondent)
