GUWAHATI: A high-level meeting has been scheduled to be held next week in Guwahati to discuss the problems related to the border between Assam and Mizoram. A senior bureaucrat from the state home department of the Mizoram Government released this information on last Friday.
This will be the third round of talks to resolve matters pertaining to disputes in the border regions of the two Northeast Indian states. This round of talks is aimed to find a solution to the problem that has been there for the last 50 years.
According to reports, the Home Secretary of Mizoram, Lalengmawia informed us about the upcoming high-level meeting. He mentioned that the meeting will be hosted in Guwahati, the capital of Assam on November 17, 2022. The time of the meeting has been mentioned as 11 AM. A preliminary meeting to make the necessary preparations for the minister-level meeting will be conducted a day before the above-mentioned meeting. That is, it will be held on the afternoon of November 16.
The senior delegation from Mizoram will be led by the Home Minister of Mizoram, Lalchamliana. Lalruatkima, the Minister of State for the Land Revenue and Settlement will also be present for this round of talks. Home secretary Lalegmawia will also be present at the meeting along with two other officials from the home department of the state.
No information has been provided by the Assam Government about who will be present from their side in this important meeting.
Assam is also undertaking meetings with Meghalaya to solve the problems in the villages located at the border between the two states. It is also aimed to solve the border disputes between the two states.
These talks have been expedited following the call of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to all the Chief Ministers of the Northeast Indian states to resolve their problems as soon as possible during his latest visit to the region.
