Guwahati: On Wednesday, the Chief Minister of Assam announced that the offline classes for Class IX, XI and Degree 2nd year will re-start from October 1.
A new SOP in regard to the re-opening of offline classes will soon be issued by the Education Department, the Chief Minister said.
Earlier, the offline classes for Class X had commenced on September 20.
In the previous SOP that was issued for the re-opening of physical classes for HS final year, Degree 6th Semester and Post Graduate 4th semester, it was mentioned that the students whose classes will start can stay in the hostel from September 6 after administering 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
However, students with just one single dose can attend the classes, provided the student is of 18 years and above.
Also, only 30 students can be seated in one single classroom. The schools concerned can increase the number of sections if necessary.
The teachers of lower classes can continue with the lower classes.
The Assam government had also decided to pay one-time grant of Rs. 1 lakh to the next of kin of any individual who had succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.
Regarding the re-opening of cinema halls, the Assam Chief Minister said that no decision has been made by the government so far. However, the government will soon take up the matter and inform the public after a decision is taken.
