DIBRUGARH: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) is enhancing access to emergency medical services by adding nine advanced life saving ambulances (ADLS) to the existing logistics (ambulance) fleet of Assam state machinery. The advanced life saving ambulances, with a wide range of pre hospital care equipment such Transport Ventilators, Defibrillator, Suction Apparatus, Nebulizer, Oxygen supply etc shall cater to medical emergencies covering neonatal support, trauma, maternity and accident cases.

"The ambulances will be flagged-off by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Minister of State, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labour and Employment, Government of India, Rameswar Teli on November 3 at Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, on the occasion of its valedictory function of Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The flagging-off ceremony would be graced by Director (Onshore), ONGC Anurag Sharma, along with ED-Basin Manager Assam & Assam Arakan Basin, Sushma Rawat, ED-Asset Manager, Assam Asset R K Sharma, ED-Asset Manager, Jorhat Asset S K Dwivedi and ED-Chief-CSR, ONGC, A P Singh," an ONGC press release stated.

These ambulances will be managed by Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat, Medical College and Hospital, Silchar; Medical College and Hospital, Tezpur; Guwahati Medical College and Hospital; Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta; Medical College and Hospital, Lakhimpur; Diphu Medical & Hospital; Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh; Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital.

"Under the aegis of ONGC, ONGC Foundation has extended support of Rs 4.38 cr for these ambulances. Earlier in 2013, under CSR, a financial assistance of Rs 7.5 Cr was extended by ONGC to the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh for establishing advanced Cath Lab. This lab is catering to the patients from Upper Assam and also enabling the faculty to impart training to the PG students," the release stated.
