DIBRUGARH: An unused gas pipeline of Oil India Limited (OIL) caught fire at Tengakhat in Dibrugarh on Friday. The incident occurred some 5km from Tengakhat.The fire was brought under control and no damage has been reported so far. An OIL spokesperson said, "Due to some miscreant activity an unused pipeline of OIL caught fire but it has been brough under control."

Sources said that oil thieves try to steal oil from the pipelines and then such incidents occur. "In Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts, the oil thieves are very active in stealing condensate from oil pipeline. Due to such activities the oil pipeline caught fire," said a source.
