DHUBRI: COVID-19 is taking a tremendous toll on people, particularly the elderly, poor, physically and mentally challenged. Ojasvi- a team of 13 diverse, action-driven women connected with a cause, from Gauripur block of Dhubri, an aspirational district of Assam, has been rendering service since May 25, 2020. They have been busy with their phones. With almost a whopping 10,000 calls made already, this group of extremely dedicated individuals, are volunteering with Piramal Foundation's Surakshit Dada-Dadi Nana-Nani (SDDNN) Abhiyaan, since two months now.
"People should come forward and do something for the society," said Farzana Khanam, an Ojasvi member, Apna Saathi at Surakshit Dada-Dadi Nana-Nani Abhiyaan.
Mamta Agarwal, another Ojasvi member, Apna Saathi at Surakshit Dada-Dadi Nana-Nani Abhiyaan, said that she was happy to be able to help people during this pandemic while sitting at home. She felt that it was an opportunity to work for the nation.
Another team member, Karuna Maloo opined that others should also join this campaign because this campaign aimed at rendering social service to the people in need.
Dhubri district head of Piramal Foundation, Udai Singh Chundawat said that in spite of managing their families and doing their personal work, these women continue to take out time every single day, to not only reach out to the senior citizens, but to also inspire others to join in for this noble cause.
"For instance, it was Binita Agarwal's dedication that inspired her brother Prabin Kumar Agarwal to join in this campaign with his sister and provide support to senior citizens," Chundawat said.
All the women in this team - Urmila Harlalka (Ojasvi Head), Ranjita Dhanawat, Shiela Saraf, Sudha Tater, Ranu Harlalka, Mamta Agarwal, Nikita Harlalka, Karuna Maloo, Nikita Agarwal, Sonali Harlalka, Debshree Dasgupta, Farzana Khanam, Binita Agarwal, and her brother Prabin Kumar Agarwal, have exceptional individual stories of motivation to share.

This is a team that has been working like a family, understanding, supporting and appreciating each other, all the while hoping for their actions to reap results for the needy people, Aishee Roy said.
